Portugal Golden Visa All- time Statistics
ARI/ Portugal’s Golden Visa Program, also known as the Residence Permit Program, is a five-year residency-by-investment scheme for non-EU nationals. This scheme grants qualifying investors and their family members the right to live, work and study in Portugal and permits free movement in Europe’s Schengen Area.
In the 10 years since its creation
- a total of 11,535 Golden Visas have been granted, granting access to 18, 809 family members
- 10,593 (92 percent of Golden Visa Portugal applications), were done through a real estate investment
- 1, 485 real estate investments aim to promote urban rehabilitation
- €6 041 821 029,91 of the over €6 754 091 807,50 in funds that have been invested were attributed to a real estate investment.
- 920 Golden Visas were granted to Capital Transfer investors.
- the total number of visas granted went to nationals from China (5,247), Brazil (1,168), Turkey (546), USA (537) and South Africa (507).
Numbers for December 2022
- 151 residence permits were authorized by SEF- an increase of 80% when compared to the same period the previous year.
- 105 were for the real estate investment category, 46 for the capital transfer investment option, and 0 for the job creation category.
- 25 came from China, 24 from the USA, 21from the United Kingdom, 14 from South Africa and 10 from Brazil.
- A total of 192 family members were rewarded with residence permits.
- A total of €79 164 626,20 was invested- an increase of 65% when compared to the same period the previous year
